Former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as Trinamool Congress (TMC) Candidate from Berhampore, said party supremo Mamata Banerjee while announcing the names of candidates for all 42 seats of West Bengal.
Berhampore is currently held by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and whole the grand old party is yet to name a candidate for the seat, Chowdhury is likely to seek a recontest from the seat that he has represented five times in the Lok Sabha.
The Trinamool Congress launched its poll campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 with a grand rally where party supremo Mamata Banerjee announced the candidates for all 42 seats at the Brigade Parade Grounds.
The prime focus of the rally is to address the issue of the alleged withholding of the stateโs financial dues by the central government, which has dominated state politics for over 2 years and has been the talking point for the TMC.
In a departure from conventional rally setups, the TMC has decided to erect ramps to facilitate closer interaction between leaders and supporters during speeches.
