In the ongoing World Cup Stage-2 Compound Archery in Yecheon, South Korea, the Indian women’s team has won gold and the mixed team has won silver. In the women’s final held on Saturday, the Indian team defeated Turkey, while the mixed team had to face defeat from America.

In the women’s final, the Indian trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Preneet Kaur and Aditi Swami defeated the Turkish trio of Hazal Burun, Ayse Berra Suzer and Begum 232-226.

Indian trio wins third consecutive gold in World Cup
This is the third consecutive gold for the Indian trio in the World Cup. Earlier this year, this trio had won gold by defeating Italy in the World Cup Stage-1 held in Shanghai. Earlier this year, they had also won gold in the World Cup Stage-4 held in Paris last year.

USA was defeated in the semi-finals
Earlier in the semi-finals, the Indian women’s team defeated world number four team USA 233-229. Turkey defeated South Korea 234-233 to secure its place in the final.
It was a smooth journey for the Indian women’s team. After finishing second in the qualifying round, the team got a bye into the quarters. They defeated Italy 236-234 in the last eight.

India’s mixed team got silver medal
India got silver medal in mixed team. The pair of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh lost to the pair of Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan of America in the final of compound mixed.
Earlier, the Indian pair lost only 2 points out of 16 shots in the semi-finals on Friday. They defeated the South Korean pair of Han Seungyeon and Yang Jaewon 158-157.

Medal hopes remain intact in compound men’s singles
Young compound archer Prathamesh Phuge is also hoping for a medal by reaching the semi-finals in the individual category.
