On Tuesday evening, a few days old dead body of an unknown woman was found in the Bank drain near Gaura village of Mohanlalganj in Lucknow. The villagers informed the police about this. The police reached the spot and are trying to identify the body after taking it out.

Villagers have suspected that the woman was murdered and her body was thrown into the drain. The police, however, say that the body was washed away into the drain. The body was sent to the district post-mortem house for post-mortem.
Police Inspector Alok Rao said, the body that was found in the drain is of a woman. She is about 40 years old. Police say that since the body is 5 to 6 days old, there is a problem in identifying her. The deceased was wearing black leggings and a green kurta.
The inspector said, it is suspected that the body of the woman has been washed into the drain from somewhere outside. Further action will be taken after the cause of death becomes clear in the postmortem report. Police say that nearby police stations have been contacted to identify the deceased. Social media will also be used.
