Charan Singh (45), who lives in Fatehpur alias Udupura village of Dhampur tehsil of Bijnor district, used to run several tractors on rent. Charan Singh’s wife Deepa is the village head. It is said that one of Charan Singh’s tractors is on contract for the construction of Ganga Expressway. The tractor was running under the supervision of contractor Gopal Rajput. On June 7, Charan Singh had reached Badaun to get the tractor on rent.

According to Deepa, on the second day, June 8, Charan Singh’s mobile phone started getting switched off. When she spoke to the contractor, his reasoning was that Charan Singh had left from here. After a lot of searching, when she could not find him, on June 10, Deepa reached Dataganj police station and gave a complaint to the police. Since the last location of the mobile was in Dataganj area, the police registered a missing person report and started investigating the case.

Confessed the truth during interrogation
On Monday, the police took the contractor into custody and questioned him. He confessed to committing the murder. He also said that the murder was committed during a drunken argument. After this, the body was thrown into the canal of Aligarh. The police had cremated the body as an unidentified body, but Deepa has identified him on the basis of his clothes.

However, the police is not ready to tell anything openly. Police Inspector Arihant Siddharth said that a missing person report was registered, which has been amended to murder charges. Some suspects have been caught, the entire case will be revealed on Tuesday.
