DRM SM Sharma of Northern Railway Lucknow Division inspected Cantt Railway Station in Varanasi. DRM did not find any flaws in the inspection but pointed out many possibilities of improvement. He held discussions with the officials to improve the operation of trains on the Northern Railway route.

DRM SM Sharma of North Railway Lucknow Division said that a new rail line will be laid on platform number five of Cantt Railway Station to increase the speed and smooth running of trains. The expansion will be done by taking a block of 100 days. Preparations are underway to take this block in the month of July. So that the work can be completed before the month of October. After that, the crowd of Maha Kumbh also has to be handled.

DRM said that the new Signature Bridge on the Ganga will have four railway tracks and a six-lane road above it. This is a long project. Work is underway on its design. All the procedures have been completed by the railways. Through this bridge, movement to Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya station will become very easy through trains. Movement of goods trains will also increase.

Two hours of conversation with the running staff

DRM interacted with 100 running staff for about two hours in the loco pilot and train manager lobby at Cantt station. During this, their problems were known. Women loco pilots put forth the problems and challenges faced during duty in front of DRM.

He said that efforts are being made to ensure that the goods train running from Sultanpur does not stop at intermediate stations but stops directly at PDDU Nagar. This will not only save time of goods trains but will also provide convenience to the running staff.

Cantt-DDU will take strict action against unauthorized passengers

DRM said that trains going to PDU Nagar should be checked at Cantt station and trains coming from DDU to Varanasi should be checked at DDU station. This will curb unauthorized passengers in trains to a great extent. Coordination will be done by meeting ECR PDU Nagar DRM and NER DRM. Trains should be taken by making coordination between Varanasi City Station.
