Yogi government’s cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi was attacked with a deadly RDX remote bomb exactly 14 years ago. Since then, the minister celebrates his recovered birthday every year. In the same sequence, his recovered birthday is being celebrated today on Friday as well.

The city was shaken by this attack

It was on 12th July 2010 when Minister Nandi was attacked with a RDX remote bomb in Bahadurganj lane of Prayagraj. When the attack happened, Minister Nandi was going to offer water to the ancient Manokamna Purti Shiv Mandir as usual. The attack on Nandi was so severe that the entire city was shaken. In this deadly attack, a security personnel and a journalist were killed and the minister was seriously injured.

The minister was treated for 7 months

Minister Nandi was in the hospital for 7 months. After treatment, he returned after defeating death. The traders, entrepreneurs and people of the Vaishya community of the state celebrate 12th July every year as Vyapari Sahas Diwas. Because Minister Nandi not only raised his voice against the extortion and harassment of traders and entrepreneurs but also started working actively for it. It is said that due to these reasons, a deadly attack was made on the minister.

Nandi’s journey was full of struggles

MLA from Prayagraj city south assembly constituency and cabinet minister Nandi’s life was full of challenges from the beginning. Born on 23 April 1974 in Bahadurganj locality of Prayagraj, Nandi’s father Suresh Chandra was a fourth class employee in the postal department. Mother Vimala Devi used to do sewing and knitting at home. Despite financial constraints, her courage was strong and she always achieved that position with struggle and her willpower, which became an inspiration for the people.

He contested elections for the first time from the city’s southern assembly constituency and became an MLA, then became a cabinet minister. Since then, he has held the responsibility of MLA three times and cabinet minister three times.
