The Customs Department has achieved a major success at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow. A large quantity of cigarettes has been recovered from two passengers who arrived in Lucknow from Bangkok. These passengers had arrived in Lucknow by flight number FD-146.

During the investigation, the customs officials recovered a total of 408 packets of cigarettes from these passengers, their estimated value is being told to be around 13 lakh 87 thousand rupees. Customs department officials said that they had received secret information, on the basis of which this action has been taken. This huge consignment of cigarettes was brought with the intention of smuggling.
Cigarettes hidden in luggage recovered
A customs official said, “We checked these passengers and recovered cigarettes hidden in their luggage. We are keeping a close watch on such smuggling cases and such action will continue in the future as well.”
The action created panic among smugglers
After this success, the Customs Department has started further investigation. Efforts are being made to find out where these cigarettes were being taken and who else could be involved in this. This action of the Customs Department at Lucknow Airport has created panic among the smugglers. Officials have stressed that they will keep a strict watch on such cases.
