Mohammad Anas, who was the AIMIM candidate in the Meerut mayoral elections, has joined hands with the Azad Samaj Party. Late on July 12, Mohammad Anas posted his resignation on social media. On Thursday, Anas met Nagina MP Chandrashekhar and expressed his gratitude to him.

Talking to Dainik Bhaskar at the time of his resignation, Anas said- Now the policies of the party are not right. AIMIM talks about the welfare of the community and Muslims. In reality, it is not with them. The party has supported BJP somewhere.

Anas said- AIMIM is secretly supporting BJP and following its policies. I am here for my community and fraternity. I will always fight for them. That is why I am resigning from AIMIM. I have not thought about joining any other party or what my future political journey will be.

In the mayoral elections held in Meerut, AIMIM party had fielded Mohammed Anas as its mayoral candidate. Asaduddin Owaisi himself came to Meerut to campaign for Anas. Party state president Shaukat Ali also came to Meerut.
In this election, AIMIM secured second place for the first time. AIMIM defeated even SP and BSP by getting good votes. Despite having a Muslim face from BSP, AIMIM reached second place. Mohd. Anas was defeated by BJP candidate Harikant Ahluwalia. 9 councillors of AIMIM won the election.

Shyam Nagar resident Mohammad Anas has been the mayor candidate from AIMIM. He joined the party in 2014. The party had earlier given him the responsibility of Metropolitan President, District President and Youth to State President. In which he has done good work for the party.
