KL Rahul has been an indispensable part of the Lucknow Super Giants but his future with the franchise remains an uncertainty.

The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) could see some major changes in terms of the roster with KL Rahul eyeing a possible exit from the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2025 season.

According to a report byย Dainik Jagran, all is not well between KL Rahul and the Lucknow-based franchise. A few months ago, a video of franchise owner, Sanjeev Goenkaโ€™s animated discussion with the skipper had rocked the internet. Though the duo denied any dispute that incident seems to have entirely changed the equations.

Rahul has been leading LSG since their maiden appearance back in 2022 and has led them to back-to-back playoff finishes but fell short in the knockout stages of the tournament. The 2024 edition was their worst finish in their brief history after ending up at seventh in the points table.

The report further suggested that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) would like to have their former opening batter back in the camp. However, itโ€™s yet to be seen if LSG retains their skipper before going into the mega auction.

The opening batter is based out of Bangalore and has represented Karnataka in the domestic scene. He began his IPL career with RCB in 2013 but then moved to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He, however, made a return to the franchise in 2016.

With the current RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis 40 years old, the franchise could be looking at a new long-term captain to lead the side in the long run. If the side does decide to move on from the former South African skipper, it would be a like-for-like replacement and would give the franchise an additional overseas slot as well.

RCB managed to make it to the playoff stages of the 2024 season but fell short in the first eliminator after being beaten by the Rajasthan Royals by four wickets and six balls to spare.

All the sides will take part in the mega-auctions which will see some major changes to the sides and could be the chance for RCB to get the perfect mix of players into their side to get their maiden title.
