On Sunday, 4-year-old daughter Moha lit the funeral pyre of her 74-year-old father.

First, a look at the events that have happened so far
74-year-old DK Tyagi, who lived in Sector-4 of Shastri Nagar, was retired from the Sales Tax Department. He was seriously ill for the last 2 months. He had a problem in his spine. Therefore, he was on bed rest. He died during treatment on Sunday. His 65-year-old wife Madhu Tyagi and 4-year-old daughter Moha are left at home. Moha is the test tube daughter of Madhu and DK Tyagi. Who was born 4 years ago during the Corona period.

Because DK Tyagi’s daughter and son both died within a month 6 years ago. Both the son and daughter were married and had children. But, after the death of both, the son-in-law and daughter-in-law got married together. Both of them started living separately with their children, abandoning their elderly parents-in-law. They ended their relationship with DK Tyagi.

The Tyagi couple could not bear the pain of the death of their son and daughter, and then the separation from their grandson and granddaughters. At this stage of their life, Madhu Tyagi (60) and DK Tyagi (65) decided to have a child. On the advice of doctors, Madhu gave birth to a daughter through test tube baby. Both of them were surviving on this child. This daughter performed the last rites of her father DK Tyagi on Sunday, because DK Tyagi had already wished that his daughter Moha would light the funeral pyre.

The innocent girl said- I will play with you when papa comes
DK Tyagi’s house is near Shastri Nagar Golmandir. When Bhaskar reporter Shalu Agarwal reached his house, some women were sitting in the room. Among them, his wife Madhu Tyagi was sitting on the sofa. Daughter Moha was playing with her. Moha would sometimes kiss her mother on the cheeks and forehead. Sometimes she would play with toys and sometimes she would dance. Sometimes she would say that she would play when her father comes. When the girl was asked where her father was, she said that he had gone to Bank Colony, where DK Tyagi used to go for a walk every day. The girl does not realize that she has lost her father a day before. She is happy like everyday and is jumping around to entertain everyone.

Unaware of her father's death, the girl recited a poem to the Bhaskar reporter while dancing.

The husband had said that this girl will perform the last rites
DK Tyagi’s wife Madhu Tyagi was asked how will her life go on? What do you think now? Madhu said- This child is everything for me. I have to live for her. She is my support. I am her support. My husband wanted that his last rites should be performed by our daughter. He himself had said this before leaving. So we got the last rites performed by her. Although my son-in-law and daughter-in-law came to meet me after hearing about my husband’s death. But, as per my husband’s wish, we got the last rites performed by our daughter.

The husband lost his eyesight while crying after seeing the photo of his son and daughter
How did you decide to have a child through IVF at this stage of your life and take such a big risk? Madhu gives a very clear answer to this question. She says- My young daughter and son passed away within a month. My daughter-in-law and son-in-law left me with grandchildren. We were left with nothing to live for. All day long, we, husband and wife, used to cry looking at the photos of our son and daughter. We cried so much that my husband’s eyes got damaged. He lost his eyesight. Then my brother Rajiv and sister-in-law told us to find a support to live life. Then we decided to have a child.

I was too old so I had to do a test tube
Madhu says- Both of us husband and wife had become very old. My husband is 10 years older than me. When we decided that we will have a child, so that we too can get some support. Then we went to the doctor. The doctor clearly refused the possibility of normal pregnancy and child. Then we thought of adopting a child, but that was not possible.

At first the doctor also refused to treat me
Madhu says- I have no shame or desire to hide the fact that I had a child at this age. We had a baby through a test tube. Because it is better to be happy today than to live a life of sorrow, crying, getting sick or dying. IVF has given us a new life. Then we consulted a doctor. Seeing our age, the doctor first refused saying that there was no chance of having a child. But, when we told our entire painful story to the doctor, she also felt that we were taking this step to give a new life to two lives. Then the doctor agreed to treat us.

IVF failed twice
Madhu says- Even IVF was not easy for us. I failed twice. We both were heartbroken that maybe happiness is not in our destiny. We will have to live like this. That day we both cried a lot in front of the doctor. But, our doctor assured us. She said that since we have come to her, now she will send us home only after giving us a child. After this, she started our treatment again. We got success in the third attempt and this daughter was born. We did not care whether it was a boy or a girl. We only wanted a child. That is why we did not pay attention to whether it was a son.

When our daughter was born, we got a new life
Madhu says- When we were undergoing treatment, Corona was going on. But, I did not lose courage. I happily endured daily injections, surgery, lots of medicines. I endured all the pain. Because I knew that when the baby comes, all these sorrows will go away. I had an operation during Corona time and we got the baby from God. That day, we both were so happy that I cannot describe it. It felt like we got a new life.

Now this girl is my support to live
Madhu says- It has been 4 years now. We have forgotten all our sorrows and pains in this child. We both are happy seeing the child and talking to her. All our property, money, everything is in her name. Even if we are not there, she can live well. Moha studies in 4th class in Diwan School. The day is spent in getting her ready from morning, sending her to school, getting her homework done, feeding her, etc. As long as I am alive, I am alive with her support.

Fight against society and make your own decisions
Madhu says- I would really like to tell people, if you are capable, can afford a child and are completely alone, your children have rejected you or you don’t have children, then make your life happy by having a child through test tube. Because nothing is gained by shedding tears over the one who is gone. People said a lot of things to me and my husband. We did not listen to anyone.

We knew that all this would be very difficult for both our body and society. Despite this, we showed courage and took this decision. This decision has given us a new life. Madhu’s friends, relatives, neighbors, brother, sister-in-law are also supporting her in this step.
