Paris Olympics… Argentina vs Morocco football match was full of controversies: Fans threw bottles at Argentine players; Match completed behind closed doors

Paris Olympics 2024 has started with football and rugby sevens matches from 24 July. However, the opening ceremony of Olympics 2024 will be held on 26 July at 11 pm.

On the first day, a football match was played between Argentina and Morocco which was full of controversies. Morocco upset the two-time gold medalist Argentina team by defeating them 2-1. This match between the two teams was played at Geoffrey Guichard Stadium in Saint Etienne. Fans created a lot of ruckus during the match.

The match was completed without fans
With two goals from Soufiane Rahimi, Morocco had a 2-0 lead in the match at one point. After this, Argentine player Giuliano Simeone scored a goal in the 68th minute to make the score 2-1. In the 90+16th minute, Christian Medina scored a goal and brought the match to a 2-2 draw. After this, the Moroccan fans who had come to watch the match in the stadium started throwing bottles at the Argentine players.

During this time some fans entered the ground, who were caught by the police and taken out of the ground and the entire stadium was evacuated. The players were also called out of the ground. The match was restarted after 2 hours and was completed without fans.

Soufiane Rahimi scored both goals for Morocco.

Argentina’s Giuliano Simeone scored in the 68th minute to make the score 2–1.

Cristian Medina scored the goal for Argentina in the 90+16th minute. However, this goal was canceled due to offside.

The referee cancelled Medina’s goal
The referee cancelled the goal scored by Argentine player Medina in the 90+16th minute by calling it offside. Due to which the Moroccan team managed to win this match 2-1. After the match, the anger of Argentine players and fans was also seen. Argentine legend Lionel Messi also posted on Instagram and wrote ‘strange’.

After the result of the match, Messi wrote ‘Insolito’ in his Insta story with an emoji, which means ‘strange’ in English and ‘weird’ in Hindi.

The match started two hours after the dispute
After this it seemed that the full time of the match was over. Even the full time of the match was shown on FIFA’s official website. However, 2 hours after the match was stopped, the players were called back to the field and after warming up and playing for 3 minutes, the match was completed.
