Lakhimpur Secondary Teachers’ Union has started a strong sit-in demonstration regarding its various demands. This time, along with Basic Teachers’ Union, the Unaided Teachers’ Union is also involved in their sit-in. The District President of Secondary Teachers’ Union said that this time the teachers are fighting till the end.

Secondary teachers have once again staged a sit-in protest by putting up tents outside the office of the District School Inspector. Hundreds of teachers demonstrated at the District School Inspector’s office and handed over a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to the District School Inspector regarding their pending demands.

The protesting teachers’ union says that earlier also a movement was organized to convey their views to the government, but their demands were not considered. After this, today they are protesting in the entire state.

Main demands of the teachers union

  • The old pension scheme should be restored.
  • Teachers of unaided schools should be given equal pay for equal work.
  • Free medical facilities should be provided.
  • The teachers who have been fired should be reinstated.

This time, the Secondary Teachers’ Federation of Secondary and Primary Teachers is also with the Secondary Teachers’ Union. District President Basic Teachers’ Union Lakhimpur, Sanjeev Shukla said that the problems of all teachers are similar and this time all teachers are united and fighting for their demands. He said that now the fight will be fought together and will be won.
