A case of cyber fraud has come to light from the Krishnanagar police station area of the capital, where a youth was duped of three lakh fifty thousand nine hundred ninety nine rupees in a week by luring him to earn money in a short time on the Instagram social networking site. By showing fake advertisements of earning huge profits by investing money in bitcoin through a fake account on Instagram to Hardeep, a resident of Krishnanagar, he was first made to deposit some money on an app called TrustPilot and then they kept asking him to complete the task and gradually the victim started seeing the winning amount in his account.
When he was asked to invest a higher amount during the task, he saw that they were now asking for more money and the money he had deposited, about three lakh fifty thousand nine hundred ninety nine rupees, was not returned to his account. Fearing that he had been cheated, he immediately contacted the bank and got his account frozen and filed a case against the cyber fraudsters in the police station and cyber cell.
