Cyber fraudsters in Lucknow’s Gudamba area duped a girl of Rs 4 lakhs by digitally arresting her. They called the girl pretending to be an NCB officer. They kept her digitally arrested for about 5 hours by threatening her that there were illegal items in the parcel. During this time, they extorted more than Rs 4 lakh from her.

According to the information, Mitali Tiwari, a resident of Sulabh Awas, Gudamba, received a call from an unknown number at 11:30 am on Tuesday. The caller introduced himself as an officer of Mumbai Airport. He told her that your Fedex International parcel has been cancelled. Which was going from Mumbai to Iran. In which 5 kg medicine and 50 grams of MDM have been caught.
Your Aadhaar and phone number have been used on this parcel. You will have to lodge a complaint with the Narcotics Control Bureau. After this, he transferred the call to the NCB officer saying that he will talk to him. The person on the call introduced himself as Inspector Pradeep Sawant and IPS Milind Bharambe. After this, he said that money laundering and illegal work has been done using the Aadhaar card.
The girl was informed about the police verification
In the name of online police statement, the call was transferred to Skype video call. In the video call, a person was seen in police uniform. He threatened me by saying that our people are roaming around you. If you tell anything to anyone, we will arrest you. During this, he took a loan of three lakhs from different accounts and got it transferred. Then from another account, he got 98,800 transferred to another account.
They got her to open SBI’s Yono app and transferred Rs. 42,000 to her. Kept her under digital arrest for around 5 hours. Mithali had cleared the Indian Air Force interview, the merit list of which is to come in December. The police verification for which is underway. Mithali, who was worried about her selection, fell into their trap. After losing more than Rs. 4 lakh, she realised that she had been duped. After this, she filed a complaint. The police is investigating the matter.
