Wrestling player Ritika Hooda, resident of village Kharkada, presently Asthal Bohar, Rohtak, is the first player to represent India in the 76 kg weight category of Paris Olympics. Ritika Hooda started wrestling in 2015. Ritika said that at that time she did not think that she would ever qualify for the Olympics and become the first Indian woman. Today I am very happy to reach this point. God has rewarded my hard work so quickly. Today my hard work is going to be successful. Now I just have to bring a medal.

Different strategy for each player

Ritika Hooda said that players from many countries will participate in the Olympics. There are different strategies to defeat them. I have watched everyone’s matches and worked on them. We have to attack with some and defend with others. We are ready to perform well with everyone.

My parents encouraged me

She told that the journey till here has been full of troubles. She has also suffered from injuries during the game. There was a time when she had given up. Because during 2022 she lost in the Commonwealth Games trials, Senior World and Asian Games.

After this defeat, she decided not to wrestle. But the family supported her completely. Her parents told her to keep practicing and they would take care of her food and drink. After this, she decided to play again and today she has reached here.

Today we are proud that our daughter is going to participate in the Olympics. Till now no one has represented India in the 76 kg weight category. Looking at the hard work of our daughter, we are hopeful of a gold medal, the rest is in God’s hands.

Ritika is paying special attention to practice, so she is going to Paris now. Otherwise, her fellow players have left two days ago. Our family is not very rich, but Ritika’s father had to face financial difficulties. Ritika’s father has given us everything.

Ritika became the first female player to win gold in the Under 23 World Championship

Ritika Hooda is the first Indian female wrestler to win a gold medal in the Under-23 category of the World Championship. She performed brilliantly in the Under-23 World Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania in December 2023 and won the gold medal.

Due to which Ritika became the first female wrestler from India to win a gold medal in the Under 23 World Championship. Before this, only one male wrestler from India had won a gold medal in the Under 23 World Championship.
