Both the institutions expressed happiness after the signing of the MoU.
IIT Kanpur and ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth (ICICI Foundation) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve healthcare services. The CSR arm of ICICI Bank has partnered with IIT Kanpur to promote digital transformation and strengthen healthcare delivery.

This stack will be available for use in the public healthcare system, starting with the state of Uttar Pradesh.

IIT Kanpur’s Acting Dean of Resources and Alumni Professor J. Ramkumar and ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth Chairman Sanjay Dutta signed the MoU. Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Advisor to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, also attended the MoU signing ceremony virtually.
Strengthening public healthcare capacity
The project involves the development of medtech devices, improving point-of-care (POC) services, and strengthening public healthcare capacity. Also, it will help in detecting chronic diseases through AI integrated devices. The project will be located at the IIT Kanpur campus.
IIT Director Prof. Manindra Aggarwal said, “With core expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and a thriving MedTech ecosystem, the Institute is well placed to provide the necessary technical support to the mission of developing components of the digital health stack.
Capacity will be built
Sanjay Dutta said, “ICICI Foundation has been working towards capacity building in the healthcare sector. In line with this, we are delighted to collaborate with IIT Kanpur to build a digital health stack that will contribute towards digitising and advancing the public healthcare system.”
