Congress leaders in Fatehpur expressed their displeasure over the inflammatory statements made by the leaders of BJP and its allies and submitted a memorandum to His Excellency the President through the District Magistrate in the Collectorate premises. In the memorandum, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was requested to be given SPG status.

The protest was led by OBC Congress District Chairman Sandeep Sahu and Minority Congress District Chairman Abdul Hafeez. Congress leader Sandeep Sahu said that the inflammatory and provocative statements made by the leaders of the BJP and its allies against Rahul Gandhi are an indication that a big conspiracy is being hatched against him. He also condemned the statements of Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Union Minister Navneet Singh Bittu, UP Minister Raghuraj Singh, and Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad.
State vice-president Misbahul Haque said Rahul Gandhi was trying to save the Constitution and constitutional values, and was being targeted by the BJP and its allies because of his demand for caste census and economic survey.
The Congress party requested the President to provide SPG security to Rahul Gandhi and take strict action against leaders who make such provocative statements. Among the leaders who submitted the memorandum were Shanti Swaroop Sachan, Chandra Prakash Lodhi, Syed Shahab and many other Congress leaders.
Omprakash Gihar, Rambabu Paswan, Shakeela Bano, Naseem Ansari, Farooq Rain, Alok Lodhi and other leaders were also present on this occasion.
