Continuous heavy rains in Agra have destroyed the crops of farmers. Farmers have suffered huge losses due to this. Due to which the angry farmers have raised the demand for compensation under the leadership of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). Through a memorandum, BKU declared these districts as disaster affected.

Memorandum submitted to Divisional Commissioner

Officials of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) raised the problem of crop wastage while submitting a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner Agra, Ritu Maheshwari. The memorandum demands that the government should start relief work in the affected districts as soon as possible and provide compensation to the farmers.

In this meeting organized under the leadership of BKU Divisional President Ranveer Singh Chahar, the District Heads of the four districts presented the problems of their respective districts in writing before the Divisional Commissioner.

Farmer leaders said that due to excessive rains this year, Kharif crops, especially paddy, sugarcane, millet and vegetables, have been completely destroyed. Due to this loss, farmers are in financial crisis, and quick relief is needed from the government to help them.

Demand for compensation and appeal for disaster relief

In the meeting, farmer leaders demanded that the four districts of Agra division, Agra, Mathura, Firozabad and Mainpuri, should be declared disaster affected. The affected farmers should be given immediate compensation. Along with this, the government was requested to provide relief to the farmers under the crop insurance scheme also.

The memorandum noted that if the government does not take immediate action, the situation of farmers may worsen, and they may have to take loans to save their livelihood.
