Both Kohli and Gill will have a brief period of rest, but they will be back in action soon with as many as eight more Tests lined up ahead.
Kohli might not have had much to say with the bat, but he showed signs of his form coming back to him as he was able to find the starts to build a long innings. Despite his premature dismissal, he will be raring to go once again.
Gill, on the other hand, had a fairly eventful outing with the bat. He scored a fine century in the second innings of the first Test in Chennai where he along with Rishabh Pant gave India an unassailable lead as they went on to win the first game of the two-match affair.
Both men will gear up in whites yet again as India takes on New Zealand in a three-match Test series. The three Tests will begin on October 16, October 24 and November 1 with Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai playing hosts for the respective games.
Kohli and Gill will hope that they can find their best batting form as the year leads up to a five-match series against their biggest rivals, Australia where the two sides are set to meet in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 where Team India make the tour Down Under to defend their title. India has held on to the title for the past four editions. With India looking to cause yet another upset, it is imperative that both Kohli and Gill be in prime condition to perform.
Before the New Zealand Tests, India will be part of a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh beginning on October 6 at Gwalior.
