MI Cape Town buys Hendricks for ₹2.7 crore: Temba Bavuma not a buyer; 6 franchises of SA20 bought 13 players

The auction for the third season of South African League SA20 has taken place. About 200 cricketers were shortlisted for this. Of these, 6 franchises of the league bought 13.
Opener Reeza Hendix was bought by MI Cape Town for Rs 2.7 crore in the auction on Tuesday. Whereas former captain Temba Bavuma has not found any buyer.
The next season of SA20 will start from 9 January and will be played till 8 February. The last two seasons of the league have been won by Sunrisers Eastern Cape under the captaincy of Aiden Markram.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the 2024 title by defeating Durban Super Giants by 89 runs. The team also became champion in the first season in 2023.
Hendrix is the most expensive, Joseph sold for 20 lakhs Reeza Hendricks has become the most expensive player sold in this auction with a price of Rs 2.7 crore. Apart from these, West Indies fast bowler Summer Joseph was signed by Durban Super Giants for the lowest price of Rs 20.5 lakh.
In this auction, MI Cape Town, Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings franchises bought 3 players each, while Durban Super Giants bought a single player.

- MI Cape Town: Reeza Hendricks (2.7 crores), Dan Piedt (8.4 lakhs) and Colin Ingram (8.4 lakhs), Tristan Luce (rookie).
- Pretoria Capitals: Evin Lewis (38.7 lakh), Marques Ackerman (72.6 lakh), Kyle Simmonds (8.4 lakh), Keegan Lyon-Cashette (rookie).
- Joburg Super Kings: Vihaan Lubbe (8.4 lakh) and Evan Jones (8.4 lakh), Doug Bracewell (8.4 lakh), JP King (rookie).
- Sunrisers Eastern Cape: Okuhle Cele (8.4 million) and Richard Gleeson (1.1 million).
- Paul Royals: Wicketkeeper Rubin Harman (8,4 lakh), Dwayne Morris (rookie).
- Durban Super Giants: Summer Joseph (20.5 lakhs), CJ King (rookie).
Bavuma and Mendis remained unsold South African Test captain Temba Bavuma and Sri Lankan batsman Kamindu Mendis have not been bought by any franchise in this auction. Bavuma has scored 3102 runs in 59 Test matches, which includes 2 centuries and 21 half-centuries. He has 1572 runs in his name in ODI and 670 runs in T20 International. Then he remained unsold in the auction. On the other hand, Ireland’s Josh Little, who has played in the IPL, has also remained unsold.
Kamendu Mendis had performed well in Test cricket for Sri Lanka this year and he is the batsman to score the most 5 Test centuries in the year 2024. No franchise showed interest in buying him either.
