A newlywed woman was allegedly gangraped by five men at a picnic spot in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on October 21. No arrests have yet been made in the case.
A newly married woman was allegedly gangraped by five men in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on October 21. The incident happened while the woman was out at a picnic spot with her husband. According to news agency PTI, more than 100 people had been rounded up by the police in connection with the case. However, no arrests had been made yet.
The woman had got married recently and the couple is in the age group of 19-20, still in college, Rewa headquarters Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Himali Pathak told PTI.
In her statement, the survivor told the police that she and her husband had an argument near a fountain, about 2 kms from a famous temple in the Gurh industrial area. Later, five men took turns to rape her at the spot.
She also said that one of the five persons who allegedly sexually assaulted her has tattoos on his hand and chest.
The matter was reported to the police on October 22 at nearly 1.30 pm and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the case.
The woman was also sent for a medical examination.
Investigations are underway.
