Pro. Tulika Chandra says that Asia’s first pathogen reduction machine has been installed in KGMU. In this season, this machine is proving to be very beneficial for platelets, especially for single donor platelets (SDP). All types of pathogens can be removed from blood with this machine.

Many times even the donor does not know that he is infected with various types of pathogens, in such a situation his blood is brought in a safe form through this machine and then transfused to the needy.
