At his birthday celebration in Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan revealed he has quit smoking, inspiring fans to consider quitting as well.
At his recent birthday celebration in Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he has quit smoking, a decision that was met with enthusiastic applause from fans. Inspired by his announcement, some fans even expressed their own intentions to quit smoking, moved by the Badshah’s commitment to give up the habit. While SRK encouraged these decisions, he tempered their admiration, offering life advice and underscoring that he isn’t a perfect role model, given his own 30-year history with smoking.
In a viral video from the celebration, Shah Rukh candidly shared his thoughts with fans, saying, “Jab jab zindagi me jaisa accha lage woh karo… Main koi aisa role model nahi hoon… (Whatever you feel right, do that. I am not a role model). It is the worst thing that after smoking for 30 years I’m giving the advice don’t smoke. We always know it is not good to smoke, we can give it up – very good. We can’t give it up – very bad. But having said that jo cheez me jaisa lage apne apne time me waisa waisa karo (Do what you deem fit at what time you deem fit).”

During his heartfelt interaction, Shah Rukh also shared some inspirational guidance, encouraging fans to pursue their dreams irrespective of their backgrounds. Drawing from his own journey, he said, “I come from a lower middle-class family. I had an education because our parents want us to be educated. My education has been useful in my life. In our space, most of us are coming from nowhere. You have to believe that it doesn’t matter from where you begin your journey, you keep working hard, keep reading and writing and if you keep following your dream, your end would be beautiful and that is what I stand for.”
Confirming his decision to quit smoking, Shah Rukh, now 59, shared at the event, “The good news is that I’m not smoking anymore, guys. Mujhe laga tha ki I will not feel so breathless, but abhi bhi feel raha hu” (I thought I wouldn’t feel breathless after quitting smoking, but I still do). Inshallah, woh bhi theek ho jayega (By God’s grace, that will also be fine).”
Though fans were eagerly waiting for King Khan to announce his next film, King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and featuring his daughter Suhana Khan in the lead role, the actor chose not to disclose any details about the project on his birthday.
Professionally, Shah Rukh Khan’s next big project, King, is significant as it marks the big-screen debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan, who recently entered the industry with Zoya Akhtar’s OTT film The Archies.
King is expected to feature Abhishek Bachchan as the antagonist, with SRK portraying a Don and Suhana playing his protégé. Munjya actor Abhay Verma will reportedly play Suhana’s love interest. Additionally, SRK is set to make a cameo in his son Aryan Khan’s directorial debut web series, Stardom.
