Big shops and warehouses in the market

Within a few minutes the fire took a huge form.

Bada Bazaar is the most important market in the metropolis. Here, in front of the vegetable market, a three-storey market has been built in an old building by the name of Saraogi Ka Kotha. It houses the hosiery shop and warehouse of Rajesh alias Lalu Kanchan. Apart from this, there is a big grocery shop and warehouse of Sanjay Saraogi and a readymade shop of Arvind Gupta.

Business leader Sanjay Patwari says that the market was closed at 10 pm. The traders had gone to their homes. Suddenly a fire broke out in the hosiery shop at around 11 pm. After this the fire kept increasing. Then the grocery shop, readymade shop and warehouse were also hit. Due to dhee, oil and clothes, the fire took a huge form. There is a loss of approximately Rs 20 crore due to the fire.

Mamta Aggarwal, who lives in the market neighborhood, said, “I was going to lie down after having food. Then some strange voice came and asked both the children to go to the terrace and see. The children came running from the terrace and said, “Mummy, it is on fire.” Then we came out of the house and started shouting. Called the people of the entire neighborhood and invited them out. People were woken up and called out of their homes.

Informed the police and fire brigade. We ourselves went to the roof with a bucket of water and tried to extinguish the fire, but the fire kept getting worse. Then the entire locality took the cylinders out of their homes. Removed the vehicles and left their homes and went away to a safe place.”

Many people gathered on the news of fire in the market. SP City Gyanendra Kumar Singh reached the spot with the police force of 4 police stations. First, 8 fire brigade vehicles were called. When the fire could not be controlled, fire tenders from BHEL, Diamond Cement Factory, Pariksha Power Plant and Army were also called.

The army took charge as soon as it arrived. The fire was brought under control with the help of all fire brigades. There were continuous explosions during the massive fire. Due to this, the people around were frightened and an atmosphere of fear was created. About 24 vehicles were called to the spot. The situation was brought under control at 3 am.

Narrow streets troubled me

People say that it was fortunate that the fire broke out at night and the market was closed. There was no crowd either. If there was a fire during the day, the situation could have worsened. Due to huge crowd during the day and the market being open, even the fire brigade is not able to reach the spot. The fire brigade faced problems even at night due to narrow streets. Three-storey buildings were built on two sides of the market. Due to the narrow street the fire brigade could not reach the rear. It took a lot of effort to extinguish the fire.

SP City said – fire broke out due to short circuit

SP City Gyanendra Kumar Singh said that when the fire broke out, fire brigade vehicles arrived immediately. There have been no casualties, nor have anyone been injured. The houses adjacent to the market were evacuated as soon as the fire broke out. They had also removed their valuables. Prima facie it seems that the fire broke out due to short circuit. Investigation will be done after the fire is completely extinguished, only then the exact cause of the fire will be known.
