New mom Yami Gautam has opened up about how life has changed after she welcomed her son.

In May 2024, actor Yami Gautam and her husband, director Aditya Dhar, welcomed their first child, a baby boy, whom they named Vedavid. Now, months after embracing motherhood and fulfilling her responsibilities, Yami has opened up about the changes in her life. On Children’s Day, she shared how her journey has transformed and how Aditya has been a truly hands-on dad.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, the Article 370 actress said, “I still don’t believe sometimes that I am a mother! Especially when I have to refer to Vedavid as ‘my son’ while I am talking to someone. That’s the time when you spell it loud.”

Yami Gautam recalled the emotional moment when she returned home after giving birth. She shared that while everyone in the house was meeting the newborn, she sat down with Aditya and reflected on how everything before that moment seemed like a blur. “You’re not just giving birth to a baby; you’re giving birth to your own self. This is no exaggeration. Everything—psychologically, emotionally, physically—changes in that one moment,” Yami added.

Yami Gautam also spoke about how Aditya has been a hands-on father. She called him “a burp expert.” She shared how Vedavid adores him, saying, “You have to see the moment he spots Aditya! He lights up, feels so shy, and suddenly at the same time he jumps at him even before you know it!” Despite his busy schedule, with Aditya often in the middle of his own shoots, Yami mentioned that he always makes time to come and be with them.

Finally, Yami Gautam shared the meaning behind her son’s unique name, Vedavid, revealing that it is a name for both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. She also mentioned how she has a new nickname for her son every day, but the one that has stuck is “JD”—short for Junior Dhar.

In May, Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar announced the arrival of their baby boy Vedavid.
