Australian opener Travis Head turned sarcastic when asked to pick the “hottest cricketer” in the Indian team. Head has now been preparing for the high-voltage Border Gavaskar Trophy where Australia will host India in five Tests. The series will begin on November 22 in Perth. Head shared his opinion about the bilateral assignment during a recent interaction on The Grade Cricketer podcast. When asked to name an Indian player who could cause trouble for Australia, Head was quick to mention Rohit.
According to the Aussie star, Rohit deserves the title of the “hottest player” of the visiting unit, not only for his cricketing acumen but also in terms of “physical attractiveness.” The host appeared to be more inclined towards Jasprit Bumah. Head, however, feels the Indian fast bowler has “got some work to do.”
“I like Rohit’s work. I am happy with the Dad set-up. I think he’s got the most style out of all of them. He stands at the top and takes them on– double-stepping blokes in the powerplay. Both– physical attractiveness and cricketing skills. Because of the way he plays, you also find that attractive physically. Rohit plays a shot, and you’re thinking, gee, that’s a good-looking man,” Head explained.
Travis Head was the main man behind Rohit Sharma’s wicket in the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad. The Indian captain pulled off an explosive start. He had already scored 47 off 31 balls but ended up losing his wicket due to a mistimed shot. Head completed an exceptional catch at the boundary line to dismiss him.
Rohit Sharma hopes to rediscover his form in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. He was unable to produce anything notable in the last Test series against New Zealand at home. The veteran opener managed only 91 runs across three matches as India suffered a 3-0 whitewash in the series.
Rohit last time faced Australia in the 2024 T20 World Cup and struck a blistering 92 off 41 balls. India secured a comfortable victory in the match and eventually became the champions by overcoming South Africa in the summit showdown in Barbados. Overall, Rohit has aggregated 3571 runs against the Aussies across all three formats.
