Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra made their acting debut with the romantic thriller Ishaqzaade. The film was released in 2012, and fans loved their performance. Well, did you know that Arjun Kapoor did not want Parineeti Chopra in the film? Yes, you are reading right. In a recent conversation with Mashable India, Arjun Kapoor revealed the reason.
As quoted, Arjun recalled the day when they were on set. He said that the actress arrived and he cracked a joke. But instead of simply laughing at it, she said the Gen-Z lingo ‘LOL’. “I said ‘Can you just laugh?’ It’s not a chat. So, I used to find her irritating,” the Gunday actor said. He further stated that she used to talk in emojis and this is when he thought she was not serious about the part. “Mai 6 mahine se wait kar raha hu ki Zoya mil jae and Zoya aa ke ‘LOL LOL’ kar rahi thi. I was like ‘My career is over. This girl is not interested” he exclaimed.
Ishaqzaade is a romantic thriller film written and directed by Habib Faisal and produced by Aditya Chopra under the renowned Yash Raj Films banner. Featuring the dynamic duo of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles, the film also boasted a talented supporting cast including Gauahar Khan, Natasha Rastogi, Anil Rastogi and Shashank Khaitan. The film was released on 11 May 2012.
The movie received glowing reviews from critics, who particularly lauded Parineeti’s standout performance. Moreover, it proved to be a resounding success at the box office, cementing its status as a commercial hit.
At the prestigious 58th Filmfare Awards, Ishaqzaade garnered three nominations, including Best Actress for Parineeti and Best Male Debut for Arjun. Additionally, Parineeti received the National Film Award – Special Mention at the 60th National Film Awards for her performance in the film.
On the work front, Arjun Kapoor is currently getting positive response for his film Singham Again. He has played a villain role in the film. And Parineeti Chopra was last seen in Chamkila with Diljit Dosanjh.
