Amitabh Bachchan celebrated Team India’s emphatic 295-run victory over Australia in the first Test of the five-match series at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Monday. India, led by Jasprit Bumrah, displayed a dominant performance, bowling out Australia for 238 in their second innings while defending a massive target of 534.
The legendary actor, an ardent cricket fan, took to his Tumblr blog to express his views on the match. He also called out what he termed “bias commentary” during the game, though he refrained from naming specific commentators. “Bias commentary के बावजूद, ठोक दिया Australia को cricket में (Despite the bias in commentary, Team India thrashed Australia in cricket),” he wrote.
Notably, Sanjay Manjrekar has faced criticism online for allegedly undermining India’s medium pacers during the Perth Test. Jasprit Bumrah stood out as the match’s star, taking eight wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Washington Sundar supported with three wickets each. Harish Rana sealed the victory by claiming the final wicket. On the batting front, Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored centuries in the second innings, further solidifying India’s dominance.
In the same blog post, Amitabh also congratulated the Jaipur Pink Panthers, owned by his son Abhishek Bachchan, for their victory against Puneri Paltan in Match 75 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11. “Jaipur Pink Panthers ने हरा दिया Puneri Paltan को, जो की एक बहुत ही, एक बहुत ही सक्षम और ज़ोरदार Team टीम है पुणे की (The Jaipur Pink Panthers defeated Puneri Paltan, a very capable and formidable Pune team),” he wrote.
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan recently appeared in Vettaiyan alongside Rajinikanth, marking their on-screen reunion after three decades. The film, released during Dussehra, has received widespread acclaim. His upcoming project, Section 84, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, will see him in a compelling courtroom drama. Fans are also eagerly awaiting his role in the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD.
