Maharashtra Government Formation 2024 LIVE Updates: The suspense over the Chief Minister’s face continues in Maharashtra as Eknath Shinde on Tuesday submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan.

Shinde will now work as the caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra till the new leader for the post is sworn in. The term of the current government ended on November 26. Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar accompanied Shinde during the resignation.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance clinched a landslide victory in Maharashtra Assembly elections and returned to power. The Mahayuti comfortably crossed the magic number on November 23 with BJP winning over 131 seats, and the Shiv Sena and NCP winning 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
