Hemant Soren, leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), will take oath as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Thursday for his fourth term.
The grand swearing-in ceremony in Ranchi will be attended by several prominent leaders from the INDIA alliance, including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, among others.
Soren’s victory in the recent assembly polls saw the JMM-led alliance secure 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, with the BJP-led NDA winning only 24.
The JMM received achieved its highest-ever tally, with 34 seats out of the 43 it contested.
Ahead of the event, schools in Ranchi city are closed on Thursday in view of the swearing in of the Hemant Soren government.
On Tuesday, Hemant Soren had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, marking his first visit to the capital after securing a second consecutive term for the alliance.
