A cricket fan has been making waves on the internet for his honest opinion on the Australian Test team. The man recently attended the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Perth. India put up a dominant show in the series opener to secure a massive 295-run win. After the match ended on day 4, a vlogger interviewed several Australian fans outside the Optus Stadium. He approached an elderly man who was making his way out of the venue. “What needs to be changed in this current Australian team,” asked the vlogger. The person simply said, “Everything.”

Visibly shocked by his one-word response, the interviewer asked the man to elaborate. The fan didn’t mince his words while explaining why the Australian Test set-up requires a complete re-modification. “Probably the coach, the selectors and Australians should concentrate more on cricket rather than being environmental warriors,” he added.

The fans appeared to be quite disappointed with the performance of Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith – two of the most senior members of the Australian squad. “I think Khawaja and Smith need to go. They are not offering to the side at the moment,” he said.

About the bowling unit, the person said, “The pace battery has got a bit old. I’m just wondering whether Nathan Lyon has got much more in him.” The twist came when the vlogger asked him, “Do you worry about the future of Australian Cricket?” The fan quickly said “no” while identifying himself as “an English.”

A clip of the “superb” interview was shared by England’s Barmy Army on X (formerly Twitter). Many cricket enthusiasts were left in splits after watching the video. One of them admitted, “Didn’t expect a twist in the tale.”

Another person commented, “Bloke is spot on. Forgot to mention Marnus but otherwise all correct.”

A user perhaps didn’t take the interview lightly as he slammed the fan, saying, “When laughing against your rivals did you have a look at your own team?”

About the current Australian pace attack in Tests, a fan said, “He is right, Australia need a replacement for Mitchell Starc.”

Australia will be keen to bounce back in the second BGT Test, which will be a day-night contest. The match is slated to begin on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval.
