Dr. Madhu Chopra reflects on the sacrifices she made to support Priyanka Chopra’s career and the unintended impact on her son, Siddharth Chopra.

Dr. Madhu Chopra recently opened up about the sacrifices she made to support her daughter Priyanka Chopra’s meteoric rise in the entertainment industry. However, she also reflected on the unintended impact this had on her son, Siddharth Chopra. In a heartfelt interview, Madhu revealed how balancing her daughter’s career aspirations and family life meant that Siddharth, then a teenager, had to grow up without as much parental guidance.

Speaking on the Something Bigger Show YouTube channel, Madhu admitted, “Siddharth was the collateral damage to all of Priyanka’s success, because dad was working, I was with Priyanka, he just grew up on his own and he was a teenager at that time. He, I think, was collateral damage for me.” She became emotional while talking about the challenges Siddharth faced, saying, “When I think about it, these are certain things that you had to deal with him.”

When asked to elaborate, Madhu revealed that Siddharth still faces struggles in his daily life. She shared, “I see him struggling everyday and I feel that, okay god has blessed you, so just count your blessings, one by one and it will surprise you what the lord has done. I count my blessings everyday.” Despite this, she expressed gratitude for her children, saying, “I have two great kids, who love me, care for me.”

Priyanka has also spoken about her relationship with Siddharth in the past. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she reflected on their sibling bond, saying, “We have grown up squabbling and fighting as most siblings do. He is the younger one technically, and so, I did my duty as the older sibling and bullied him mercilessly. But no matter what I did, he would be there for me, with a smile on his face and love in his eyes. I think the strength of the bond that we share is tremendous. A lot is unsaid between us, but we know that no matter what, we’ll always be there for each other.”

Recently, Siddharth Chopra married Neelam Upadhyaya in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai. Priyanka attended the wedding, accompanied by her husband Nick Jonas and their daughter Malti Marie. The couple had celebrated their engagement in April, which was also a family affair.
