During this program, 97 thousand fish babies were packed in packets, which were duly released into the Ganga. On this occasion, MLA Pankaj Gupta said that this step is not only important for the cleanliness of Ganga, but it will also benefit the fishermen community, as it will be helpful in promoting fisheries.
Work is being done on many schemes to promote fisheries. Chief Executive Officer Bal Kishore Dubey said on this occasion that both the Central and State Governments are working together on many schemes to promote fisheries. He said that releasing fish babies in river Ganga will increase the quality of water life in the river and will also increase fish farming. This will not only improve the economic condition of fishermen, but will also improve the ecology of river Ganga.
The juveniles released under this program were of Indian Major Carp species, which include Rohu, Katla and Naik fishes. These species are found naturally in the river Ganga, and their conservation will not only help in maintaining the balance of climate but will also ensure a stable source for fish farming.
