Citing an example Ram Gopal Varma remarked that if one compares a Rs 1,000 idli plate at ‘Subbarao Hotel’ to a seven-star hotel is absurd, in the same way Pushpa 2’s ticket prices have also increased owing to its star quotient

Film director Ram Gopal Varma who is known for his controversial takes on several issues has recently reacted to the high ticket prices of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 which released on Thursday.

Varma posted a story on X about an idli hotel which had priced its idlis at an exorbitant rate to point out that if someone pays a hefty price for dining at a seven-star restaurant then Pushpa 2 should also be watched for the seven-star quality of the movie.

The film director even urged that those who feel that Pushpa 2 ticket prices are exorbitant should not watch the movie. He pointed out that films are made for profit and not for public service.

Varma said that if a plate of idli is priced at Rs 1,000 in ‘Subbarao Hotel’, those who compare it with a seven-star hotel should not watch the Pushpa 2 movie. He also drew comparisons with those who do not stop buying luxury and branded goods even if the prices of essentials have increased and joked that the ticket prices of Pushpa 2 have been increased.

In another post on X, Varma took a veiled dig at Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi saying that Allu Arjun has risen to the height of any hero in the industry and commanded a remuneration of Rs 287.36 crore for the movie Pushpa 2, which is “mega times” more than “Mega Mega Chiranjeevi Family Stars”.

“@alluarjun  is being paid not EARTH but a SPACE SHATTERING TWO HUNDRED and EIGHTY SEVEN CRORES and THIRTY SIX LAKHS as his fee for one single film #Pushpa2 which is MEGA times more than MEGA MEGA. No STAR in the HISTORY of CINEMA has ever reached this kind of towering heights and hence he is the true TOWER STAR,” he said on ‘X’.

It should be noted that Ram Gopal Varma had earlier posted on social media in favour of YCP and have been involved in cases related to them. Allu Arjun also supported Shilpa Ravi who contested as a YCP MLA.

Though the release of Pushpa 2 was delayed, the hype of Pushpa 2 increased further with advance booking and pre-release events.
