The makers of Pushpa 2: The Rule have come under fire as Rajput leader Raj Shekhawat accused the movie of insulting the Kshatriya community. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shekhawat alleged that the character Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, played by Fahadh Faasil, portrays the ‘Shekhawat’ community in a negative light. He warned the producers to remove the word “Shekhawat” from the movie or face severe consequences.

Shekhawat wrote, “Pushpa 2 movie has a negative role of ‘Shekhawat,’ again insult to Kshatriyas. Karni Sainiks, be ready—the producer of the movie will be thrashed soon.” In a video statement, he further alleged that the film industry has repeatedly misrepresented the Shekhawat community, calling it a “grave insult to Kshatriyas in the name of freedom of speech.”

He demanded that the filmmakers immediately edit out references to “Shekhawat” in the movie, threatening that the Karni Sena would take strict action if the demand isn’t met.

Meanwhile, Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, is already creating waves at the box office. The sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise has shattered records, earning a massive Rs 294 crore globally on its opening day.

The film surpassed the Hindi opening day collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and broke RRR’s Rs 156 crore domestic record, becoming the biggest opener in Indian cinema. Directed by Sukumar, the film continues the saga of Pushpa Raj (Allu Arjun) in the world of red sandalwood smuggling.

Despite the controversy, Pushpa 2 remains a cinematic triumph. The first installment earned Allu Arjun the National Film Award for Best Actor, and the sequel has been lauded for its gripping storytelling and spectacular performances.

The producers, Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, are yet to respond to the allegations made by Raj Shekhawat and the Karni Sena.
