Following his arrest, Allu Arjun was taken to the Chikkadpally police station before being presented at the Nampally court.
Telugu superstar Allu Arjun will spend the Friday night in jail after delays in completing the bail formalities following his arrest in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad. Although the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail earlier in the day, procedural setbacks and the superintendent leaving for the day prevented his release. He is expected to be released tomorrow morning.
Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday and remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a local court in Hyderabad. The arrest was made in connection with a tragic incident on December 4, where a 35-year-old woman lost her life, and her 8-year-old son was injured during a stampede-like situation at the Sandhya Theatre. Thousands of fans had gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor during the movie premiere, leading to the chaos.
The police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after the deceased woman’s family filed a complaint. Arjun’s legal team approached the Telangana High Court on December 11, seeking to quash the FIR.
Earlier on Friday, drama unfolded as police arrived at Arjun’s residence to take him into custody. Visuals from the scene showed the actor visibly upset and reportedly arguing with police officers, objecting to their entry into his private space. “It is definitely not a good thing,” he was heard saying in the video that has since gone viral.
Following his arrest, Arjun was taken to the Chikkadpally police station before being presented at the Nampally court, which sent him to judicial custody. Amid heavy security, he was then shifted to jail.
While the Telangana High Court granted interim bail, the procedural delay in processing the order copy led to his extended stay in jail. The case has been posted for further hearing on January 21, 2025.
The sudden arrest of the national award-winning actor has left his fans shocked and sparked a debate over accountability in such incidents.
