Sneh Rana Who Picked 10-Fer In Her Last Test Goes Unsold At WPL 2025 Auction – News18

Sneh Rana has played 25 T20Is, 27 ODIs and 4 Tests for India.
Indian all-format capped all-rounder Sneh Rana went unsold in the 2025 Women’s Premier League auction, in one of the more shocking calls of the event in Bengaluru on Sunday. Rana, who has played 25 T20Is, 27 ODIs and 4 Tests for India, took a red-ball 10-wicket-haul against South Africa in her last international match in June.
The off-spinner was a part of Gujarat Giants in the last WPL and a disappointing wicketless campaign probably played a role in lukewarm interest in her experience. The six franchises ignored the Railways captain’s brilliant recent form in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy and also her brilliant T20I numbers — 24 wickets in 25 matches at an economy rate of 6.21.
After winning a Player of the Match award in the One-Day Trophy, she posted a video of her wickets on Instagram earlier on the day of the auction and wrote in the caption: “Through every challenge and doubt, I’ve learned that the journey is as important as the destination. Hard work, perseverance, and unwavering faith have brought me here. Every step, every lesson, every moment has shaped me. Grateful for the strength to keep pushing forward. 💫✨ This is just the beginning.”
When the Giants released her, coach Michael Klinger said she wasn’t a guaranteed starter, while also admitting that it was a ‘harsh’ call on the international star.
“Sneh Rana wasn’t guaranteed a spot in our starting XI. Ash Gardner is there and we have Priya Mishra, up and coming spinner. It’s a really harsh call. She’s great around the group and is experienced. It was a hard hard decision. But we felt, going forward, we have some improvements to do and some tough calls to make and that’s why we went that way.”
Rana also struggled to make India’s playing 11 since her 10-fer, which was only the second for an Indian women’s cricketer, despite being called an “integral” player by head coach Amol Mazumdar.
“Sneh won the Player of the Match award in the Test against Australia (in December), and then she played the Inter-Zonals in April,” Mazumdar had said at the time. “Coming into this Test, she attended the bowling camp at the NCA, where she worked on her bowling skills. The message is very clear that she is an integral part of the team and she delivered at the right time in the morning,” he had added.
