The body of a farmer who had gone to guard the fields in Lakhimpur Kheri was found on Thursday from a drain on the river bank. The family members have expressed suspicion of murder. The police say that the body has been sent for postmortem. The situation will become clear only after the postmortem report comes.

The case is of Chikanjati village of Khamaria police station area, where 60-year-old Siyaram, a resident of his farm, had gone to guard the wheat crop. But when Siyaram did not return home till late in the evening, the family members went in search of him. Siyaram’s body was found in the field. The news of Siyaram’s death, found floating in a nearby drain, created an uproar among the family members. Due to the body being found in a suspicious condition, the family members have expressed suspicion of murder. l
The police reached the information and sent the body for postmortem. In-charge Inspector Vivek Upadhyay said that the postmortem of the body is being conducted. The exact cause of death will become clear only after the postmortem report comes. Other aspects are also being investigated.
