Bangladesh team announced for Champions Trophy: Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das dropped, Shanto will captain

Nazmul Hasan Shanto has been made the captain of the Bangladeshi team.

Bangladesh’s team has been announced for the Champions Trophy starting next month. Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das have been excluded from this team released on Sunday. All-rounder Afif Hussain, fast bowler Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmood have also not been able to make a place in the team.

Shakib Al Hasan, 37, has been suspended from bowling in international and domestic cricket due to illegal bowling action. He had failed a test on his bowling action at Loughborough University in England last month and a second independent test conducted recently in Chennai also found his bowling action negative.

Champions Trophy starts from 19th February. Bangladesh team will play its first match against Indian team on 20th February. The team will play matches against New Zealand on 20 February and Pakistan on 27 February.

Shakib in the last phase of his career Shakib Al Hasan is in the last phase of his career. His ODI career may also end due to not being selected in the team for the Champions Trophy. Shakib had announced his retirement from Test and T-20 cricket played in Kanpur in September last year.

Captaincy to Shanto; Rahim, Rehman and the return of Hridaya The team will be led by Nazmul Hussain Shanto who is also returning to the team after being out due to injury.
