Celebration started from Baikunth Ekadashi
The ten day Vaikuntha Utsav started with Baikuntha Ekadashi. On Baikunth Ekadashi, Lord Ranganath came out of his temple sitting in a plane. The devotees came out carrying the palanquin of the Lord on their shoulders. As soon as the Vaikuntha gate was opened in the Brahma Muhurta on Baikunth Ekadashi, the entire temple complex was echoing with the praises of Lord Ranganath.

Lakhs of devotees came out from Baikuntha gate
Devotees had started gathering outside the temple since late night to pass through the Baikuntha gate, which opens once a year at Brahma Muhurta on Baikuntha Ekadashi. Here, as the time for opening of Baikunth gate approached, the number of devotees started increasing. As soon as the Vaikuntha gate opened during Brahma Muhurta, lakhs of devotees were seen eager to pass through that gate.
As soon as the Vaikuntha gate was opened in the Brahma Muhurta on Baikunth Ekadashi, the entire temple complex was echoing with the praises of Lord Ranganath.
Sometimes he became Govardhan Dhari and sometimes he became King Ram.
The Vaikuntha Utsav, which started on January 10, ended on January 19. During this period, Lord Ranganath appeared in different forms every day. Lord Ranganath appeared to the devotees sometimes in the form of Damodar, sometimes in the form of a butter thief, sometimes in the form of Girraj Dharan and sometimes in the form of King Ram. On January 11, every evening, Lord Ranganath came out of his temple sitting in a palanquin along with Mata Goda (Lakshmi) Ji and gave darshan to the devotees.

The palanquin circumambulated in Vaikuntha Loka
After leaving the temple, the ride of Lord Ranganath reached Paundnath temple after touring the temple premises via Baikuntha gate. Which is called Vaikuntha Lok. Here the Lord’s vehicle took five rounds every day. During this period, bhajan kirtan was performed by the devotees. Devotees coming from all over the country and abroad for darshan were seen dancing to the hymns of God.

The main Alwar saint of South India, Shri Shathkop Swami also came on the palanquin in beautiful white clothes and adorned with Tulsi garlands.

During the Baikunth festival, Lord Alwar appears to the saints and tells the soul the path to Baikunth Dham. Lord Ranganath appeared to Shathkop Swami, Madhur Kavi Swami and Nath Muni Swami during the Vaikuntha Utsav. On the last day of the festival, the Alwar saints surrendered to God. At night, Alvar was circumambulated by Shri Prabhu and offered at His feet and covered with Tulsi leaves, which is a sign of his attaining salvation. After this, after Bhattacharya Swami’s humble request to return the Alvar, Shri Prabhu again returned the Alvar and both of them had auspicious darshan. Gosthi Prasad was distributed in the devotee community. With this the Baikuntha Utsav came to an end.
