Do you remember the song ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ released in 2011? But do you know that this song was released on YouTube out of compulsion. This song was composed by music composer Anirudh Ravichandra. At the age of just 19, Anirudh made his debut with the film ‘3’.

However, the first song of this film, ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’, released in 2012, was released on YouTube a year earlier. This song was a super duper hit and went viral. Now after almost a decade, Anirudh has talked about this. He told that he did not want to share this song on YouTube but it was done because it was leaked online.

This song was written and sung by South superstar Dhanush.

In an interview given to Film Companion, Anirudh told that all this happened suddenly. He told that the music company was planning to release this song through CD. But meanwhile, the rough version of the song was leaked online from a studio in Chennai.

Since it took a week to make and distribute a CD, this song was released on YouTube to control the damage.

When this song was composed, Anirudh was only 19 years old.

Anirudh further said that till that time releasing something on YouTube was not as common as it is today. In such a situation, he was very sad when this song got leaked. Anirudh said, ‘As a composer, you want the first song of your first film to be released through CD. You want to give it to your friends. I was 19 years old at that time and was very upset with this entire incident.

This song was part of the album of the film ‘3’. Dhanush and Shruti Haasan were seen in lead roles in this Tamil psycho thriller film. Anirudh’s music has been heard in the recently released films Jawan and Jailer.
