‘The Caption Should Be…’: Kevin Pietersen’s Reply on Anushka Sharma’s Post for Kohli is Too Funny (Photo Credits: Instagram/Anushka Sharma/X)

Kevin Pietersen’s cheeky response to Anushka Sharma’s birthday post for King Kohli goes viral and how.

It’s all about Virat Kohli, the man who didn’t just celebrate his birthday, but turned it into a spectacle with a thrilling century, leaving everyone in awe during the IND vs RSA match last night. His admirers were already smitten, but his performance took their admiration to new heights. Even his wife, Anushka Sharma couldn’t stop heaping praises for Kohli after her birthday post for her husband went viral. In what came as a heartwarming post for Kohli, Anushka highlighted how he excels in every aspect of his life, turning him into a complete hero. But it was Kevin Pietersen’s cheeky response that added an unexpected twist to the tale.

It all started when Anushka posted a photo of Kohli along with a fun cricket fact: Kohli is the only cricketer to take a wicket on the 0th ball of his T20I career. Anushka’s heartfelt message read, “He is literally EXCEPTIONAL in every role in his life! But somehow continues to add more feathers to his glorious hat… I love YOUUU through this life and beyond and endlessly so, in every shape, form, through it all, whatever it may be so.”

That’s when former England skipper Kevin Pietersen joined in, as he was the very first wicket that Kohli took in that memorable T20I match against England in 2011. He jokingly replied to Anushka, saying, “The caption should be – Thank you, Kevin, for always looking out for my husband!”

Take a Look:

For those unfamiliar with the history, during a T20I match in 2011, Kohli bowled a wide ball, which led to him taking a wicket as Kevin Pietersen was stumped by MS Dhoni. Kohli remains the only player in men’s international cricket to achieve this unique feat, getting a wicket off his 0th ball.

And if you thought that was the end of the story, think again. Kohli continues to script his legend in the world of cricket. Just last night, he added yet more feathers to his already crowded cap by matching the iconic Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 centuries in ODIs. What’s more, he joined an elite club by becoming only the third Indian batsman to score an ODI century on his birthday, a feat shared with the ‘Master Blaster’ himself, who achieved the same on his 25th birthday in 1998 while Vinod Kambli did it against England on his 21st birthday.

Truly, Kohli’s cricketing journey is a story for the ages, one that keeps on giving, match after match.
