DIWALI 2023: The most important festival of Hindu religion is the festival of Diwali. This festival of lights is celebrated every year on the New Moon day of Kartik month. A different enthusiasm for this festival is seen all over India. On this day the whole country shines with the light of lamps. In the Hindu religion, Diwali is considered a festival that brings happiness and prosperity in life. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Lord Ganesha, the God of happiness and prosperity, are worshipped.

On the day of Diwali, Lord Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana. To celebrate the return of Lord Ram after completing 14 years of exile, the people of Ayodhya decorated the entire Ayodhya with lamps and lights. Since than Diwali has been celebrated all over the country. This festival of lights lasts for five days.
WHEN IS DIWALI 2023?
Diwali festival is celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month. This year, the Amavasya date of Kartik month is starting from 2:44 pm on 12 November, 2023.
CHOPDA PUJAN MUHURAT
- Morning – 8:11 AM to 12:24 PM
- Afternoon – 1:47 PM to 3:10 PM
- Evening – 5:55 PM to 10:46 PM
WORSHIPPING OF GODDESS LAKSHMI AND LORD GANESH ON DIWALI
- Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh are worshiped at an auspicious time on Diwali.
- On this day, first of all, start the puja by applying Tilak on the Kalash.
- After this, take flowers and rice in hand and meditate on Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
- After that offer flowers and Akshat to the idol of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi.
- Then lift both the idols from the Chauki, keep them on a plate and bathe them with a mixture of milk, curd, honey, basil, and Ganga water.
- After bathing with clean water, place both the idols back on the chauki.
- Apply tilak on the idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh. Wear flower necklaces to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
- After this, keep sweets, fruits, and money in front of Lakshmi-Ganesha.
- You can also do the Aarti of Goddess Lakshmi / Also the whole family can recite the mantras: OM GAN GANPATAYE NAMAH 108 times
- Most importantly, donate some sweets and food / clothes to the needy people.

It is said in the scriptures that one who has knowledge also has wealth. Therefore, Lord Ganesha is also worshipped. Also, it is said that if Goddess Lakshmi becomes happy with someone on Amavasya Tithi, then he gets abundance amount of wealth.

- Lord GaneshaVinayaka or Lord Ganesha is considered the God of knowledge and auspicious beginnings. Lord Ganesha symbolizes strength, intelligence and the ability to overcome any challenge.
- ToranToran is a traditional decorative element made of marigold flowers, Asopalav leaves, and other colourful elements. It is hung at the entrance to invite good fortune and prosperity.
