Abhijeet talks about SRK.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya said that it is wrong to call Shah Rukh Khan an anti-nationalist.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya is a celebrated singer in Bollywood and has lent his voice to several superstars, including Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh and Abhijeet’s collaboration has resulted in some superhit songs like Badi Mushkil Hai and Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main among others. Although they haven’t worked together since 2009, their collaboration has resulted in many soulful melodies. Recently, the singer opened up about his views on Shah Rukh Khan.
Speaking to Lehren Retro, Abhijeet said, “We don’t have ego, but we have self-respect,” recognising his similarities with the superstar. He said that while he attempted many times to reconcile his differences with SRK, his efforts were in vain. Abhijeet said that Shah Rukh is a commercial person who uses others and removes anyone obstructing his path to success.
“However, labelling him as anti-national is very wrong. Many have attempted to do so, but there is no bigger nationalist than Shah Rukh Khan. Consider the films he has made — Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Swades, Asoka et al. How can such allegations be made against him, especially when he has always promoted Hindu culture in his movies?” Abhijeet asked.
He added, “Among the Khans, Shah Rukh Khan is the only nationalist. Others don’t really have anything to do with the nation.” This statement comes years after the singer had condemned Shah Rukh, Salman Khan and Karan Johar for using Pakistani artists in their films after the Uri terrorist attack.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Dunki. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial also features Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in key roles. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres around Christmas this year.
After Dunki, it is said that Shah Rukh will begin shooting for his next film with his daughter Suhana Khan, titled King.
