IIT Guwahati Placements: 11 Student Secure Jobs With Rs 1 Crore Salary Package – News18

IIT Guwahati Placements: total of 262 companies registered for Phase 1 of placements will be recruiting a total of 422 profiles, along with seven public sector undertakings

The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) campus placements for the academic year 2023-24 kickstarted with a total of 164 job offers made by 59 companies on the first day of the placement drive. In addition to that, the IITians have received as many as 214 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). As per a statement by the institute, most of the job offers were in the sectors of Core Engineering and Finance profiles.

The institute further informs that eleven placement offers were made to the IITians with the highest salary package of more than Rs 1 crore, compared to seven offers made on the first day of the placement drive last year in the academic year 2022–23. The IIT Guwahati received 160 offers by 46 companies during the same period last year.

Tech behemoths like Google, Microsoft, Navi, Piramal, Bajaj, HPCL, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments among othershave participated in offering lucrative packages to the students in this year’s first two sessions.

According to the latest updates, the institute is expected to continue Phase 1 of IIT Guwahati placements until December 15. In the academic year 2023–24, a total of 1491 students across different streams of study registered for placements.

Moreover, a total of 262 companies registered for Phase 1 of placements will be recruiting a total of 422 profiles, along with seven public sector undertakings (PSUs). Among these, more than 50 start-ups have also registered for recruitment in the ongoing academic year.

The institute further stated that session 1.1 of IIT Guwahati placements began at around midnight while session 1.2 started at around 8 am. However, the final session of 1.3 began at 4 pm and is slated to complete by midnight.

IIT Guwahati’s Career Development Head, Lalit Mohan Pandey told Careers 360, “IIT Guwahati defies global recession by maintaining the steady placement statistics. Through rigorous training, our students have adeptly grasped the intricacies of companies’ requirements, equipping themselves to effectively meet these demands.”

He further said that this process is assisting in fostering a comprehensive understanding on the part of both the potential employee and employer.

“We are glad to see the participation of huge numbers of recruiters from different sectors enthusiastically hiring the talented pool of IIT Guwahati. The students are encouraged to join the core sectors,” Rajeev Ahuja, the officiating director of IIT Guwahati told the portal, congratulating the students for clinching these amazing opportunities.
