Today's unheard story is about a poor boy who rides a mahout i.e. an elephant, who was the first Indian to work in Hollywood and become a Hollywood star. Name is Sabu Dastagir. Sabu, known as Elephant Boy in Hollywood, played the role of Mowgli in the first film 'The Jungle Book' (1942) based on the 1894 book 'The Jungle Book' and gained worldwide recognition. However, the surprising thing is that despite being an Indian, he was not allowed to work in Indian films. He was being given the role of Birju in Mehboob Khan's film 'Mother India', although he did not get a work permit from the US and later this role went to Sunil Dutt, due to which he became a star.
Along with becoming famous in Hollywood, he also became a part of the US Air Force, for which he has received many honors.
Sabu earned name in Hollywood, but his life was full of many things.
