'This life has given me innumerable sorrows and little joys. My life is like a book in which only bitter experiences are buried. When it comes out, it causes unbearable pain. I am very emotional. I have always lived my life from the heart. For this I have suffered beyond limits.

It is said in books like Quran and Bible that if you do good, good also happens to you. This did not happen to me at all. Whenever I did good, I got nothing but troubles.

Madhubala herself had said this in an interview given to Filmfare. Madhubala was called the Marilyn Monroe of India. It was believed that she was the most beautiful actress of Hindi cinema, but her life remained equally dull.

Sushila Kumari has written in the book – Dard Ka Safar – 'Madhubala was born with a curse. This curse continued to haunt him throughout his life and became the cause of his untimely death. This curse was to have a hole in his tender heart and this hole not only shortened his life but also filled his life with sufferings.

Madhubala was born on Valentine's Day, the symbol of love. His heart full of pain was full of love. He sacrificed a lot of love, affection and affection for others, but he did not get anything in return, neither love nor affection from anyone.

Madhubala loved four people, but her relationship could not be complete with any one of them. Then she married Kishore Kumar, but when she fell ill at the last moment, he also turned his back on her. Madhubala said goodbye to the world on 23 February 1969 at the age of just 36.

Today, on Madhubala's birth anniversary and Valentine's Day, let us read about her love stories and struggles in life…

First love story- first love left incomplete
Madhubala had her first love at an early age. When she lived in Delhi, she started liking Latif, who lived there and who later became an IAS officer. When Latif came to know that Madhubala had to shift to Mumbai, he became very sad. He didn't want her to go away from him. Madhubala also did not want to stay away from him. When both of them met for the last time before leaving for Mumbai, Madhubala gave him a rose flower which she kept all her life.

After coming to Mumbai, Madhubala became busy in films, but Latif could never forget her. It is also said that after the death of Madhubala, Latif used to visit her grave on her death anniversary and place a rose flower on it.

Second love story- Married Kamal Amrohi wanted to make Madhubala his second wife.
In 1949, the film Mahal was made under the banner of Bombay Talkies. The director of this film was Kamal Amrohi. Suraiya was initially to be cast for the film, but after the screen test, Madhubala was selected in the lead role. This film was a hit at the box office.

It was during the shooting of this film that Madhubala and Kamal Amrohi came close to each other. Madhubala's father was very happy with their relationship. He said- If in future both of them get married then I have no objection.

But Kamal Amrohi was already married and he did not want to leave his wife. He wanted Madhubala to remain his second wife, but Madhubala did not accept this condition. She said that she cannot share her husband with anyone else. He asked Kamal Amrohi to divorce his first wife, but he refused. For this reason their relationship ended.

Third love story- Because of Madhubala's oath, Premnath did not drink alcohol for 14 years
Madhubala was seen opposite Premnath in Badal, released in 1951. One day during the shooting, Madhubala went to Premnath's makeup room and gave him a love letter and a rose.

Then Premnath could not understand what was happening. When he read the letter, it was written in it – If you love me then please accept this rose, otherwise return this letter and flowers. Premnath was shocked after reading this letter. He could not believe that the most beautiful girl in the world proposed him. He happily accepted the proposal.

There was such a deep love between the two that whenever Premnath got an offer for a film, he used to sign the films only after asking Madhubala. For this reason, Madhubala had also proposed to Premnath to change her religion and get married, but Premnath refused. Due to religion, Premnath could not marry her and married Bina Rai, the top actress of that time.

Madhubala was deeply shocked by this news. She also told Premnath – You have rejected my love, you will also yearn for love. Ultimately the same thing happened. The married life of Premnath and Bina Rai was not very good. Later he started drinking alcohol.

When Madhubala came to know about this, she swore to Premnath not to drink alcohol. He also said that it is better to drink their blood rather than drinking alcohol. These words of Madhubala touched Premnath's heart. He did not even touch alcohol for about 14 years.

Fourth love story – If you don't go today, I will not come back to you, never: Dilip Kumar
Dilip Kumar and Madhubala met on the sets of the film Tarana. Both were friends at first, but gradually Madhubala started liking him. Once she sent a rose along with a letter to Dilip Kumar through her close make-up artist. It was written in the letter – If you like me then only accept this letter, otherwise send it back. Dilip Kumar accepted the letter and after this their love started blossoming.

For the first time in 1955, both of them were seen together in a public place during the premiere of the film Insaniyat. However, this was also the last time when both were seen together in a public place. Their relationship broke up after just 9 years. The reason was that Madhubala's father wanted Dilip Kumar to work according to Madhubala. He used to interfere in his every work.

Dilip Kumar had also mentioned this in his autobiography 'Dilip Kumar- The Substance and the Shadow'.

He had written – 'When I talked to Madhubala about her father Ataullah Khan, I made it clear to her that I have my own way of working, I choose the project as per my own and even if I have my own production house in it. Can't procrastinate.'

Madhubala's father did not like this thing of Dilip Kumar, he felt that he was very arrogant and stubborn. Even after all these things, Dilip Kumar had full faith in Madhubala. Dilip Kumar had also sent the marriage proposal to his sister's house, but it was rejected by Madhubala's father. Even after this denial, he was sure that Madhubala was his.

One day when Dilip Kumar told her that let's get married, she started crying. Madhubala also did not avoid anything said by her father. On this Dilip Kumar said- If you do not go today then I will not come back to you, I will never come back. After this he never really returned to Madhubala.

Dilip Kumar and Madhubala were very much liked in the pair of Anarkali and Salim in the film Mughal-e-Azam, but during the shooting, both of them did not talk to each other at all.

Now let us know about the person who was captivated by Madhubala's love and her beauty-

When dance emperor Gopikrishna ate non-veg because of Madhubala
In the film Saki, Madhubala was taught dance by dance emperor Pt. Gopikrishna. He was not in love with Madhubala, but he too had become crazy about her beauty.

Once the shooting on the set was over, Madhubala offered him breakfast. He was so happy with her offer that he agreed to eat together. He didn't even try to find out what was for breakfast? Both of them sat opposite the table and started having breakfast while talking. During this time, Gopikrishna kept staring at Madhubala and kept eating without even looking at the food.

That breakfast was non-vegetarian, but Gopikrishna did not realize this at all. When he came to know that he had eaten chicken and mutton for breakfast, he became very upset. Madhubala also felt very sorry about this, because Pandit Gopikrishna was a vegetarian.

When Bal Thackeray said after seeing Madhubala – Today has become my day
In Penguin India's book Bollywood Top 20- Superstars of India, Raj Kapoor had told that when Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray once saw Madhubala during the shooting, he was so impressed by her beauty that he said- Today My day was made.

The Prime Minister of China was also crazy about Madhubala's dance.
When the set of Sheesh Mahal was built for the shooting of the film Mughal-e-Azam released in 1960, many people came to watch the shooting. Among them was the then Prime Minister of China Chou En Lai who had come to the set especially to watch Madhubala dance.

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto wanted to marry
Bhutto family used to have a mansion in Worli Sea Face, Mumbai. From 1954 to 1958, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto lived here, while his entire family lived in Pakistan. Naushad Sahab has mentioned many times that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was often present during the shooting of Nandlal in the song Mohe Panghat. During this time, he became a fan of Madhubala's dance.

Bhutto was so impressed by her beauty that he wanted to marry her. Bhutto had also expressed this to Madhubala during lunch on the set. In response to this, Madhubala just laughed loudly.

Married Kishore Kumar, he also turned away at the last moment
After separation from Dilip Kumar, Madhubala became completely alone in her life. Due to heart disease, he used to vomit blood during shooting, but he did not pay attention to these things. It was at this time that he met the all-rounder Kishore Kumar. He once again found a reason to live life and be happy.

Madhubala married Kishore Kumar in 1960. Kishore Kumar was aware of his illness, but he did not take it very seriously. After marriage, he took Madhubala to London, where it was revealed that she would live only for 2 years.

When Kishore Kumar returned with him to Mumbai, he left Madhubala with her father and sisters and said – I am very busy with work so I will not be able to take proper care of Madhubala. After this he used to come to meet Madhubala, but only once in three-four months. When Madhubala needed her husband the most, he was not with her.

I want to stay alive, not die: Madhubala
Madhubala's condition was worsening day by day. There was excess blood production in his body due to which it used to come out through his nose and mouth. Doctors used to draw blood from the body at home. He also had lung disease, due to which he had to be given oxygen every four-five hours.

Madhubala was in bed for a long time. Only bones were left in the body. Seeing herself, she would always cry and say, 'I want to stay alive, not die.' For this reason, she used to wear make-up, so that she felt that she was fine.

Ultimately, due to illness, Madhubala died on 23 February 1969 at the age of just 36.
