Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram police station has arrested a husband and wife on the charge of luring them to convert.

In Ghaziabad, a case of religious conversion by allurement and greed has come to the fore. Police on Monday arrested a Kerala priest and a woman in this case.

President of BJP Yuva Morcha Indirapuram Mandal Praveen Nagar said, “There was information about the presence of some people who had come for the purpose of conversion in Kanavani village.” So he along with his team reached a house in the village on Sunday evening. A woman and a man were found present on the spot. By then the rest of his companions had left.

Praveen Nagar claims that both these people are missionaries and were luring the family members with a house of 25 yards and two lakh rupees in cash instead of converting them. On information, the police of Indirapuram police station reached and took both of them into custody.

ACP Swatantra Kumar Singh said, the arrested accused Santosh Johan and the female accomplice are husband and wife. Santosh is a pastor at Sheroon Fellows Church in Kerala and has been promoting Christianity in Ghaziabad since 1996. Both the couple work together in the UP mission organization affiliated to the UCPI (United) Christian Prayer for India.
He had hired a room in village Kanavani for the propagation of religion, where people associated with the mission used to gather. Here this couple used to propagate religion and inspire people to join Christianity.
In the inquiry, Santosh Johan said, each member of our organization has a target of connecting 20 people. We tell the children about Christianity and make them pray. The police have registered a case against the couple in this matter under the Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act.
