Actor and DMDK party founder Vijaykant passes away: Was on ventilator after being corona positive, breathed his last in Chennai hospital

Tamil cinema actor and founder of Tamil Nadu's DMDK party Vijayakanth has passed away at the age of 71. He breathed his last at MIOT hospital in Chennai. He was on ventilator after being corona positive.

A statement from the hospital said- Vijaykant was on ventilator support after being admitted for pneumonia. He was also found corona positive, after which he started feeling difficulty in breathing. Finally, today i.e. on the morning of 28 December 2023, he passed away. After his death, tight security arrangements have been made outside the hospital.

If reports are to be believed, Vijayakanth was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday for a routine health checkup. Although he was absolutely healthy at that time. He was even going to return home after the checkup. DMDK party founder Vijaykant was earlier admitted to a hospital on November 20. He was undergoing treatment for respiratory disease in the hospital.

Vijayakanth has also been the leader of opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Vijayakanth's acting journey was very brilliant. He had created a distinct identity for himself by working in about 154 films. He worked in superhit films like Narasimha, Captain Prabhakaran, Dharma Chakram. Not only this, he was also a successful director and producer. After this Vijaykant took a turn towards politics. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly from 2011 to 2016. He also founded the DMDK party of Tamil Nadu. However, his health had been a matter of concern for some time.

40 cases of new variant of Corona have been reported across the country in 24 hours.
The new variant of Corona JN.1 has spread in 8 states of the country. Till now, a total of 110 cases have been found across the country. Of these, maximum 36 have been recorded in Gujarat. 10 cases of this variant have been found in Maharashtra and 1 in Delhi. 41 patients of this variant have been found in the country in the last 24 hours.

Here, 400 to 600 cases of corona are being reported daily across the country. According to the Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours, Corona report of 617 people came positive, 603 patients recovered and 3 died. Earlier on Monday, 638 new patients were found, while on Tuesday 412 new patients were found.

The total number of active cases in the country has reached 4181. That means these patients are undergoing treatment. Of these, the maximum number of infected is 353 in Kerala, 74 in Karnataka and 124 in Maharashtra.
