Recently, actor Meezan Jaffrey expressed his displeasure over his rich friends on a social media post. In fact, Javed Jaffrey’s son Meezaan appealed to his friends to work together to help the people who were burnt in the Mumbai slum fire. When he did not get any response from his friends, Meezan was furious.
There was a fire in Mumbai’s slum
Recently, there was a fire in Mumbai’s Appa Pada slum of Malad East.
Meejan asked his friends to donate Rs 4000 a month to help these people. On not getting any response from friends, Meejan shared the post and wrote – Although they have a lot of money, they don’t even think before spending money on food and drink, shopping and alcohol and drugs.. I want to help people. What did you say, they raised their hands…
Mumbai Police simplified the process by making chits – Meezan
Meejan told through the post that a few days ago there was a fire in Appa Pada Malad East slum. I came to know more about this incident from social media. My aunt had gone to Malad. There the houses of more than 2000 families got burnt in the fire.

The huts of about 2000 people got burnt in this fire.
Aunty sends me real time videos and photos – Meezaan
My aunt reached there and sent me more photos and videos. Many community members were present there to help the families of the people who were burnt in the fire. Some people of Mumbai Police said that if you want to help them, then we can give them by making chits so that help like food, ration and medicines can reach these people in a systematic way.
I am sad about this – Meezan
Meijan further wrote – The next day I talked to my friends about this. But, to my surprise, none of my friends came forward to help. I was very sad to see this.
These people will spend money on dinner, partying, shopping, even on alcohol and drugs. But, they refused to give ration of Rs 4000 to some people. I am not trying to teach anything nor do I want to talk about any of this. But, I am very sad about this.

After this accident Meezan Jafri himself reached the spot and talked to the people.
I have shared this thing only so that I can share my point of view with people. I want that if you can help any needy then do it.
Will keep helping people after seeing them in this condition
The next day I myself went to the slums of Malad. The police had given us chits to deliver the supplies. After seeing such condition of the people in the slum, I have made up my mind to continue helping further.
I have delivered more than 200 ration packets to these people only with the help of my aunt and brother Keki. If I alone can do so much, what a difference we all can make together.
Help people as much as possible – Meijan
It doesn’t matter which community or background you come from, we are all human after all. Help those around you in whatever way you can.
Some of you will just read and like this post and move on, but if I can change the mind of even one of you, that’s all right.

After seeing such condition of people in slum, I have made up my mind to continue helping further: Meezan
If not, I will continue to do this work inshallah. Lots of love and Happy Ramadan everyone! Also thanks to those colleagues of Mumbai Police who made the process of volunteering so easy.
Meezan Jaffrey made his acting debut with the film ‘Malaal’. Apart from this, Meezan has also appeared in ‘Hungama 2’. This year Meezaan will be seen in ‘Yaariyan 2’ opposite Divya Khosla Kumar.
